Italian champions Juventus have renewed their interest in Jose Gimenez and have held further talks with the player’s representatives.
The Atletico Madrid defender’s future has been under scrutiny all summer due to interest from clubs in England and Italy.
Liverpool and Manchester United are believed to have been keeping tabs on the Uruguay international and Roma have also been linked with a move this summer.
But Juventus have been laying the groundwork for a potential swoop on the defender and have been in regular contact with the player’s agent.
Last month his representative, Paco Casal, was spotted with Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici and the two were discussing a deal to take Gimenez to Turin.
And according to Tuttosport, Paratici and Casal held further meetings on Wednesday as Juventus continue to keep tabs on his situation at Atletico.
Gimenez is still undecided about leaving Spain and has also not ruled out the possibility of putting pen-to-paper on a new contract with the club.
Atletico are also not keen on losing players this summer as they won’t be allowed to replace them until January because of a transfer ban.
